Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship

This past Saturday I witnessed an AMAZING race at the Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship.  If you did not have a chance to watch the race I feel bad for you, but don’t worry I will give you the results. Craig Alexander won going sub 8hrs for the first time in his career. And Caroline Steffen was a minute away from breaking the women Ironman WORLD RECORD.  This shows the world many things.

Few simple things I took away….
-Ironman is an experience game (Top 2 male finishers just under 40years old)

-Racers need to be adaptable  (Craig using his bike skill as a weapon the past year)

-GREAT Quotes from Craig about race preparation. “The results have long been determined by preparation"

-8hrs in the ironman distance is like running a 4min mile.

-Advancements in the female pro field are charging ahead!

-Watching 2 racers run shoulder to shoulder during an Ironman marathon is one of the coolest things ever!

-Both male and female races at the World Championship this year will be CRAZY to watch!!

-The sport as a whole is getting faster

This was a monumental race and I am sure the rest of the 2012 season will have many more kick A** races to come.
